| RICHARD PETTY | Richard Petty is an American stock car driver who competed from 1958-1992 , in the former Nascar Grand National and Winston Cup Series. He also won a record of 200 races during his career. This included winning the Daytona 500 a record seven times , and winning a record of 27 races in one season ( 1967) . He was inducted in Nascar Hall of Fame in 2010 . Both Richard Petty and Dale Earnheart tied the record seven Championship wins the Cup He was born in Level Cross, North Carolina on July 2 , 1937. He was born in a house in Level Cross, North Carolina. He went to Randle man high school. Then he received a B.A in political science and Psychology from University of Virginia. Then he went to Murray state university on a drum major scholarship, where he majored in trombone and minored in voice. There is a museum for Richard Petty in Randle North Carolina.
