Soyuz is a system of capsules designed by the Soviet space program. The program was started in 1960s that is being used even now. The Soyuz series came after Vostok spacecrafts. The Soyuz spacecraft is launched on a Soyuz rocket, which was based on the Vostok launcher, which in turn was based on a Soviet intercontinental ballistic missile. All Soyuz spacecrafts are launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
