Went on Gemini 3, first manned Gemini mission: Was commander on Apollo 1 and was killed in a fire during a launch pad test in January 1967 John Glenn First orbital Mercury flight in February 1962: first American to orbit the earth: Went again on Space Shuttle STS-95 in October 1998 Scott Carpenter Second sub-orbital Mercury mission in May 1962: did not participate on other missions Wally Schirra Third orbital Mercury mission in in October 1962. Gemini 6A December 1965. First space rendevouz with Gemini 7. Apollo 7 commander October 1968. Only person to fly on Mercury, Gemini and Apollo Gordon Cooper Final sub-orbital Mercury mission in May 1963: Was command pilot on Gemini 5 in August 1965 Deke Slayton Could not go on Mercury mission due to a medical condition: But became an important person in US Space program as a Director of Flight Crew Operations: responsible for crew selection on Gemini and Apollo: got cured of his condition and went on Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (ASTP)
